Nylon Summer Music Tour 2009: Yes! I Was Ready to Shake My Shimmy

I just got home from Nylon Summer Music Tour 2009. It was a total awesomeness!!! I came up late so I didn't have the chance to see Jaguar Love⎯which has left me with no idea of what their performance looked like. So the next in line was Plastiscines, yes plasticines with an S between the I and C, so yeah whatever... first things first. Plastiscines is an-all-girl band from Paris (they are Katty, Marine, Louise and Anaïs) with a complete package of bébés rockers; they dress up in le bobo style (bourgeois bohème), have an upbeat music driven by the guitars and drum and all-in-all⎯catchy lyrics. Parfait, as the Frenchmen said. And on the following, the Living Things finally rocked the venue. It was remarkable, enough said. On top of those, the one that we've been waiting for... Patrick Wolf finally showed up. My friend Alina and I were screaming like crazy. He wore like a coat with a big grayish Union Jack graphic on it⎯it's simply soooo Patrick⎯flamboyant, diva and primadona. I must say that I was totally wrong, his live performance is waaaaaaay better than his music video. It was epic. I was driven away, I danced like crazy as if I got sugar rush or something. It was an amazing night and we didn't want that night to be at an earlier end. So after the first goodbye we, the audience, were screaming and stomping for him⎯begging for an encore. Finally after 5 minutes or so he showed up again for the second time. It was a one fine night.

Yé-yé: Part II

Lio. She was really cute and adorable back then, although she is now a slutty-looking grandma. I want her hair and her eyes :p

Lio and France Gall = parfait. I have a really broad interest on genre of music, and yé-yé is one of them. 1960s French pop music is dopeeee.

What Lies Ahead

Dad, please let me go to California College of the Arts instead of University of Washington :(
I knew I've changed the game plan, and I'm sorry for it. But please understand me for once. I just don't belong here...

Those are the sample of their architecture students' work.

Tonight

She is adorable yet friendly, and her voice is like the sweetest voice you've ever heard. She gave a Russian name for me; Marшa.

Lissy Trullie (Part II): "Boy Boy"

Spoiler: You can spot Chloë Sevigny in this video. No kid.

From the very start, I knew they're going to be big. I blogged about them before and this Thursday I'll get the chance to watch their gig. They're now hitting the road with The Virgins and Anya Marina. Thank God its an all ages concert :)

Diamonds

Wearing a big blue woolly jumper with an orca whale stitched on the front.
Standing on your window ledge, black knees, biting down on acid pops.
And your mamma kept shouting for you to come down, come down, she said.
She said you do this all the time.
Yesterday it was the greenhouse, you ruined all the tomatoes.

How did it feel?
How did what feel?
Falling through glass.
Turned into diamonds.
Did it hurt very much?
Only a little.. my hands. I have lots of tiny cuts, they look like Soldier Ants marching home.
How did it feel?
Like flying.

Someday...

Yves Saint Laurent

I swear to God and for the love of mine for Monsieur YSL, someday, I could afford this bag with my own money... Someday... and buy another one for my mother.

Coachella 2009—Indio, CA (Rumor)

I'm speechless...

If it's happening on Spring break, I prolly could have planned a trip by myself to go all the way down to CA, from here, WA (honestly I did plan for it and almost booked a round trip train ticket). Although it would be a 24 hours+ travel by train (...or whatever how long it will take, basically I just don't care). Yeah unfortunately... I just realized that my Spring quarter already begins on April 6th. So I decided not to go. :'(

The Kooples

The Kooples, a street style brand from Paris-London. Their typical collection is about Savile Row versus rock, Parisian elegance with black spectacles, urbanity brought forward by vintage love affairs.
